Kia Kaha Keisha!

On Friday we said good bye to one of our students in Room 10.

Keisha is moving away so we wanted her to know how much we love her and will miss her.   The kids made her cards and we each shared at least one thing we loved about her.  We then shared a cake that Miriam had baked before giving her loads of hugs.

We will miss you Keisha xxxxxx

Olympic Discovery Time....

In Room 10 we are beginning our journey into the exciting arena of 'Excellence in Sport' with the upcoming Rio Olympics only days away.

During this term our general class focus we will be around:

  1.  International sporting events can bring communities together.
  2.  Rules and laws affect sporting events.
  3.  People from different cultures have the same sporting aims.

Students will also be given the opportunity to follow their own interests and nearly all have identified 3 key areas using this as a guide:

This afternoon we began diving into different websites that shared information about the Olympics.  It was fun to see them so excited and sharing their thoughts with each other.

Rio Olympics!

Nau mai, Maliu mai, Ulu tonu mai, Aere mai
and Welcome back to Term 3 in Room 10!

This term our Home Learning will focus around the
Rio Olympics!

Your child gets to choose what they want to focus on.  Each of the tasks below are designed to develop their skills.  For example Task 1 is developing their research and comprehension skills, and Task 2 is asking students to use key words and use their layout skills in a way that makes their word choice easy to read.

One task is to be completed by the end of each week.  Students can record their tasks in their Home Learning Book or they can use the various Google Apps in their student Drive.

Tasks 1 2 & 3

Tasks 4 5 & 6

Tasks 7 8 & 9

Tasks 10 11 & 12

This term spelling will focus on homophones:  words that sound the same but are spelt differently and have different meanings.

Please continue helping your child to learn their basic facts and times tables up to 12.  Math tasks will also be coming home to provide another opportunity for your child to practise the strategies they are learning in class.
