We are learning about idioms!

We are collaborating with a school in Hong Kong called the Australian International School Hong Kong (AISHK).  We are excited about learning and sharing together.   

 Our first challenge is to share what we know about idioms.  At the moment we don't know many so we are going on a research mission this week to find out some.

 Today we learnt that an idiom is when there are word combinations which have a different meaning to the literal meaning of each word... in other words... don't take it seriously, it's a play on words!

 We will share our knowledge with our new friends in at AISHK on Friday after lunch.  We can't wait to meet everyone online.  Being a 21st Century learner is exciting and gives us a purpose for our learning. 

 Here are a couple of idioms we found today....
  • have a change of heart (means you've changed your mind)
  • gut instinct (you just know it's the right thing to do, but you can't explain why you know) - thank you to @AKeenReader for this one!


We can't wait to share the others we come up with by the end of the week.
