Someone Say Dribbling?

We are learning basketball skills in Room 10 and it's harder
than it looks!

We have learnt how to pass and catch a ball.  We are also learning how to dribble.... no, not out of our mouths.... dribble a ball!  We thought it would be easy but realised that if we use the flat of our hand we lose our ball.  We are learning to bend our knees and use our fingertips on the ball for better control.

Watch our video to see how we are getting on.....

  1. Kia ora koutou, talofa lava Room 10 @ Rangikura. It is great to see that your learning in PE is so visible, and that you look to be having lots of fun while you are learning. I used to teach PE at Aotea College until this year and you guys have some great skills! My advice would be to not look at the ball while you are dribbling but to look ahead to where you are going - this is really hard I know! But when you apply this skill in a game situation you will need to look out for the opposition. My other piece of advice would be to not bounce the ball so high, and to keep it close to you - try and bounce it about hip height to maintain accuracy and control. Have fun and keep moving :)

    1. Thank you for your comment, and the advice I will definitely use it in the future when we do dribbling again, I think keeping up to my hips will help, I’m not very good at basketball but the tips will help alot : )

  3. Thankyou for the comment for room 10. We have been practicing with the ball and passing the ball to the person next to our buddies.
